The Scubapro Novascotia 7.5mm is a semidry wetsuit will keep you warm in the coldest waters without resorting to a drysuit. With the highest CE Thermal Rating and improved design; this semidry will keep you warm in cold

CE Certified Class A Thermal Protection Steamer made from water repellent everflex neoprene which is thick and insulating whilst remaining flexible and comfortable. The neoprene is made from Scubapro's X-Foam which complies to P.A.H. test requirements; harmful elements are eliminated producing an environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic neoprene. This paired with Scubapro's Diamond Span lining which is a quick drying but very insulating interior lining, resulting in a CE Certified Class A Thermal Protection steamer.

Fewer Seams from the Pure Design Concept increases comfort and thermal integrity. Cleverly cut panels mean that this suit is much more flexible as seams do not stretch very well, and fewer seams reduce raised areas that tend to wear on the outside and rub on the inside. An improved protective spine pad adds insulation and protects your spine from harder backplates. Anti-Abrasion Powertex material on shoulders and back stop shoulder straps from slipping and wearing out the shoulder areas.

Extra Long Wrist Seals similar to drysuit cuffs create very effective seals to prevent water from flushing in and out of the suit, keeping you warmer in colder waters. Double zipper ankle seals make donning and doffing easy whilst maintaining a tight effective seal.

Flexible YKK SemiDry BackZip provides an excellent dry seal against cold water entry and is more flexible, increasing wearing comfort.

I-Safe Computer Strap keeps your dive computer in place without slipping off or twisting around on either wrist even when the neoprene compresses at depth. 3D thigh pocket for tools and essentials with an attachement hook for lanyards. Tough knee pads to protect the common wear areas on the knees and shins. 6mm Hood included.

Scubapro NovaScotia SemiDry Wetsuit - Features

FeatureProduct Specification
Ankle Seal Type
?As with the neck and wrists, the ankle seals help to stop water be flushed into the suit through movement, trapping warm water against the skin and maintaining body temperature
Glideskin
Ankle Seal Zips
?A extra layer than can be unzipped to allow the fitting and sealing of neoprene boots, helping to prevent flushing of cold water
Yes
Entry Zip Location
?The location of the entry zip. The zip is normally located in the centre of the front or rear of the suit but an offset zip can provide better comfort and aid donning and doffing.

A wetsuit system usually has a rear entry zip on the full length piece and a front entry zip on the shorty. This is to avoid overlapping the zips which would create an uncomfortable ridge.
Rear Shoulder
Hood Included
?Whether a hood is supplied with the suit
Yes
Male or Female Fit
?Wet suits are specifically cut for either men or women to provide a more comfortable fit.
Male
Neck Seal Type
?The neck seal is an important component of a wetsuit, providing a critical seal against cold water flushing into the suit. An entry level suit will feature a simple zip up collar whilst a high specification suit will have an adjustable closure and smooth finish to create a good seal.
Glideskin
Reinforced Knee Pads
?Reinforced knee pads help to prolong the life of the suit by protecting the knees from abrasive damage.
Yes
Stitching type
?The stitching can affect both the comfort and also the thermal protection that the suit can provide.

Overlock is the basic stitching type, two pieces are stitched together creating a small ridge which can cause indentations in the skin and irritation.

Flatlock and Blind stitch joins two pieces edge to edge providing a more comfortable flat finish. Blind stitch is different stitch pattern to flatlock that uses glue. The reduced number of needle hole and use of glue helps reduce water entry through the stitching.

Seam sealed utilises a blind stitch join for comfort with the addition of an internal tape or liquid seal to create a better water barrier and prevent water seeping through the stitching.
Blind Stitch
StyleSemi-Dry
Thermal Protection Class
?Class A: 7 - 12 degrees celcius
Class B: 10 - 18 degrees celcius
Class C: 16 - 24 degrees celcius
Class D: 22 - 30 degrees celcius

This is the thermal class given to the wetsuit by an independent testing body. Each class band covers a temperatures range that a suit certified for. This grading system currently only applies to full length suits, shorties are excluded.

As an example two different 5mm thick wetsuits may look the same but one is more expensive and receives a higher grade. Without the grade to identify that the suit provides better thermal protection it is difficult to justify the higher price.

Class A
Thickness (mm)
?The neoprene thickness of the wet suit. Generally speaking the thicker the neoprene the warmer the suit but there are other factors to bear in mind such as the amount of water that is allowed to 'flush' through components like the zip and seals.
7.5
Wrist Seal Type
?The wrist seal is another important barrier to prevent water flowing freely in and out of the suit.
Glideskin
Wrist Seal Zips
?Wrist seal zips allow a outer neoprene layer to be rolled back so that the hand opening in a divers gloves can be sandwiched between two layers, helping to prevent water flushing into the gloves.

Great Suit

Was initially concerned about the fit of the suit, ordered an XL size chest, waist & hips were in spec but length was a bit long for me I'm 176cm tall the suit is for 180-185cm should not have worried fits just fine quite a snug fit but not too tight. Gave the suit it's first outing on Saturday in the Firth of fourth at Elie Harbour temp between 8C - 10C did not feel cold at all during the dives at the end the of the day the rash top and longs I wore underneath the suit were damp but not drenched, I'm looking forward to using it again on Wednesday at St Abbs.

Only giving 4 stars as i was unable to wear the included hood which was too tight and restrictive around the neck, the suit itself is worth 5 stars

Nova Scotia 7.5mm semi dry reveiw

Really pleased with this purchase, used it for the first time last week in the canaries, the main reason for purchase was that I always got cold on the second dive of the day, this suit has made a noticeable difference. A Couple of points I would highlight are that I had to increase my weights by 2kg on the second dive. ( I normally have 6kg for a 5mm wetsuit) as I really struggled on the first dive to get past 2 meters. After pulling myself down the shot line the suit lost buoyancy it was fine when coming back up the shot line and a drift dive later in the week without a shot line and was certainly able to control my buoyancy meter by meter with no concerns. ( I was warned about this in a previous review so did expect it and I expect the suit to loose some bouncy as it becomes older and less rigid). Overall really pleased and the extra warmth that outweighs the buoyancy issue.

The best semi dry I've ever had

This is a comfy fitting semi dry

I used to in Walters at 6 degrees and I didn't feel the water temperature

A little bit difficult to get on at first but that is due to it being brand new I think once I want it in a bit it will fit like a glove.

You do need a buddy to rip you up as like a dry suit has a rear zip.

Lots or research paid off

I got his suit in October but haven't been able to dive until today 30th December. Was excited to see just how good this suit would be in the cold and I wasn't disappointed. Two dives in 4.5 degree C and have never felt so warm. I previously have used a 5mm wetsuit in warmer temperatures and felt cold. If anyone is thinking will this be warm enough or good enough for all year round diving have no doubt this will fit the bill. I came home buzzing from two great cold weather dives. Absolutely brilliant and really great service from Simply Scuba at the time of purchase.
