The Mako Stainless Steel Knife from Scubapro is constructed from 304-grade hard-tempered stainless steel, providing an excellent cutting edge and good resistance to surface oxidation. The blade has a cutting / serrated edge on one side and a line cutter on the otherside. The stainless steel blade passes through the plastic handle to form a bottle opener on the end.

The plastic sheath has a one handed push button locking release to prevent accidental lose of the knife. The sheath can be fitted to the leg using the quick release rubber straps or to a BCD using the supplied nuts, plastic heads and bolts.

  • Line-cutting notch for cutting small ropes and fish lines.
  • Serrated edge for sawing heavier ropes and branches.
  • Bottle opener for convenience.
  • Sheath with unique locking mechanism to allow one-hand release.

Specifications

Sheath Material
?Sheaths are typcially made from either plastic or webbing. Plastic housings offer impact protection and will incorporate a locking mechanism to help prevent accidental lose of the knife. Webbing sheaths are normally supplied with smaller, low profile back-up knifes and cutter and usually use a velcro tab to retain the knife or cutter.

Tip Type
?Standard knife blades are usually available with either a point or blunt tip. A pointed tip holds more a risk of accidental punction of other equipment or injury. A blunt tip reduces the risk of accident damage and is also handy as a lever if you need to pry something open.

GOOD Quality Knife

I have had several scubapro knives and I like this one the best. Many cutting options and light weight. The titanium blade is better to resist corrosion.

Really great little knife

I've not needed to use the knife yet but it's really compact and fits on my leg nicely. The blade itself has plenty of cutting options making it a great all round dive knife.

Decent little knife

I have not used the BDC attachment yet but the legs straps seemed to work fairly well for me in a dry suit. I wasn’t sure how secure they would be but I had no dramas. As for the knife, it’s a good little size in my opinion with a few different bits on the blade, the only cutting I have done was to sharpen a pencil but that seemed to be fine. I was looking at the titanium version but I’m glad I didn’t bother spending the extra money on it for the sake of saving 13 grams or so.

A sturdy stainless dive knife

A sturdy stainless dive knife. The only demerit for me would be that I can't see myself needing the bottle opener cut into the end of the hilt but I can see it providing an unwanted sharp protrusion.
