The Scubapro Frameless Gorilla Mask is a larger version of the classic Frameless Mask with a single large lens for a huge field of vision and a matt black skirt.  The silicone skirt is tougher than many other mask skirts out there so it will last for much longer while still being comfortable.

Who is the Frameless Gorilla For?

The Gorilla version of this mask was made for those who want a larger mask to suit their face or need a wider mask skirt to seal properly to their face shape.  The classic squared design of the lens has been popular for many years because it simply works.

Recommended Accessories

You first need to prepare your mask to reduce fogging. All masks require preparation with something such as Sea Buff to remove contaminants like releasing agents and sunscreen. Before every dive you'll need to defog your mask and Scubapro make their own Defog Gel. With silicone mask straps they can grip and pull your hair so a Neoprene Strap Wrap will help keep your mask comfortable. You also need to keep your mask safe while storing or transporting your mask so we came up with the Premium Mask Case.

  • Extra-large single lens provides an expansive field of view while reducing volume.
  • Slightly larger double-seal matte skirt creates a comfortable, watertight seal on larger faces.
  • Traditional buckles attach to the skirt, enabling the mask to be folded flat for traveling.
  • Wide headband allows for a comfortable fit against the back of the head.

If you have longer hair and want to avoid it becoming tangled in the mask strap or just want the strap to be more comfortable remember to purchase a Strap Wrapper.

Scubapro Frameless Gorilla Mask - Features

FeatureProduct Specification
Coated Lenses
Some mask lenses are specially coated to improve colour / light characters. Most coatings work by reducing the amount of light that is reflected as it passes through the glass, reducing glare and reflections and improving brightness within the mask. Close.
Frame Type
Masks are available with either an external (Frame) or internal (Frameless) which gives the mask it's structural strength.

Somes advantages of an external frame design are replacement of parts as the mask can usually be dismantled into its component parts and some manufacturers offer off the shelf corrective lenses which can be retro fitted.

The advantages of a frameless design are that the mask is usually of a lower profile (less internal volume) which masks clearing easier, the skirt wraps around the internal frame providing a more flexible seamless finish and the overall weight of the mask is reduced. Close.
Lens Type
The main lenses are available in two different configurations, Single and Twin.

Single lens masks provide a more open vision as the frame between the centre of the eyes is removed, this also typically results in a lower profile mask.

Twin lens masks can allow for individual corrective lenses to be retro fitted, completely replacing the original lenses. Close.
Single Lens
Low Profile
A low profile mask offers the smallest internal volume possible, making clearing easier. Close.
Prescription Lenses
Some masks allow off the shelf perscription lenses to be retro fitted to the mask, completely replacing the original lenses. Close.
Purge Valve
A one way purge valve can be incorporated into the frame or nose section to allow for hassle free mask clearing. The diver just needs to tilt his/her head to allow the water to flow to the valve and be purged out. Close.
Side Lenses
Side lenses are small glass panels which provide better peripheral vision and also increase the amount of light that is able to enter the mask.

The lenses can either be fitted directly to the main lenses to offer a seamless field of view or as separate lenses built into the side of the mask frame. Close.
Skirt Material
The skirt is the seal around your face that stops the water from getting in. Cheaper masks will just have a Thermoplastic that will do the job but harden over time and discolour if left in the sun. Most are Silicone that are soft, create an effective seal and don't discolour quickly. The highest-grade silicone is Hypoallergenic that is purer with few impurities for a crystal-clear skirt that is soft and effective. Close.
