The Mares X-One Fins are a short, dual material style snorkelling fin designed from the top-of-the-range SCUBA diving fin the X-Stream. The riddled foot pocket prevents the parachute effect while swimming for an efficient short fin.

Dual Material Blade channels the water better to push you through the water faster with less effort so you can move through the water faster without tiring your leg muscles. The mesh foot pocket allows for quick draining and reduces the parachuting effect of water collecting in the pocket whilst swimming.

Buckle Free Heel reduces weight and complications with a simple stretchy heel strap similar to SCUBA diving fins that will accomadate a wide range of foot sizes.

Mares X One Fin - Features

FeatureProduct Specification
Blade Type
?
Advances in design, materials and manufacturing techniques has allowed the development of various differenet types of fin blades which control the movement of water in different ways.

More advanced blades, including split and hinged blades, can dramatically increase efficiency, helping to improve propulsion but also lower the amount of energy required to operate the fins. Close.

Foot Type
?
Fins are available in two fitting types, open heel and full foot pocket.

Open Heel are typically used for scuba diving as they are able to provide better propulsion due to their increased strength and weight.

Full Foot Pocket fins are usually worn by snorkellers who produce significantly less drag when moving through the water compared to a scuba diver. As a result the fins are generally smaller and much lighter. Close.
Open Heel
Quick Release Buckle
?
Quick release buckles aid fitting and removal of the fins by allowing rapid fitting and release of the fin strap.

Rather than having to loosen the fin strap off before pulling it over your heel to remove the fin, the quick release buckle allows you to disconnect the strap and slide your foot straight out. Close.

Strap Type
?
A number of different fin strap styles can now by found on fins including the traditional adjustable rubber strap, metal spring straps and also bungee straps.

Rubber straps can be easily adjusted to suit each individual diver and are typically fitted with quick release buckles.

Spring and bungee straps are generally not adjustable and are sized to suit the fin size, however, they offer an extra level of comfort and flex better during the kick motion. Close.

Great travel fins

These Mares travel fins are perfect if you are travelling with cabin baggage only. They fit into a standard wheely bag and still have enough oomph when you’re in the water. I found them to be comfortable when worn continuously for hours.

Good

Nice pair of fins. Very well made for the price. Not recommended to use on bare feet as the pockets can cut skin

Mixed feelings

Bought two pairs, for each of my kids (9 and 11), who are out of kids sizes, but too small for proper adults. Wanted something that was a cut above the store chain 'value' items, and was adjustable for growth. Bought for a specific holliday we just did that involved a lot of snorkelling - so, still cheaper than hiring resort gear.

Main problem - the width of the foot compartment. Great if your kids have feet shaped like a hobbits' (i.e, very wide...) otherwise, lots of side wobble...

My 11 year old got on well with them, but my 9 year old, who is well within the suggested size range, not so well, to the point she refused. They cut in to the front of her upper foot as well - not supple enough there.

My wife, (who has small feet) also tried them and had the same issues, side wobble and cutting in to feet. It stated 'for bare foot use' so - ho hum...
