The Light & Motion Sola 1200D is a versatile and compact LED dive light with a 1200 lumen 60 degree beam and a 500 lumen 12 degree spot beam. The Sola 1200D uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery to power the light for 70 minutes at maximum flood and 110 minutes at maximum spot.
Factory Sealed Housing to prevent flooding and a magnetic slider control to eliminate a potential failure point. The magnetic slider provides control of the variable outputs whilst a smart 'dashboard' provides power level, battery and charge status information.
The battery is charged via an external connector port and will provide the following lumen levels and burn times:

| Bulb Type ?Advances in bulb technology has created a number of different options for light source, each with their own advantages and disadvantage: Halogen & Xenon - The oldest technology, a spring like filament that glows white hot then electricity is passed through it, producing light. Later filament bulbs are filled with Xenon to produce a more intense and brighter light. HID - High Intensity Discharge lights have a capsule of gas instead of the tungsten filament. HID bulbs typically produce more light at a lower temperature and are significantly more efficient as they produce a lot less heat and require less energy to maintain the light level. LED - unlike ordinary incandescent bulbs, Light Emitting Diodes don't have a filament that will burn out, and they don't get especially hot. They are illuminated solely by the movement of electrons in a semiconductor material. | Switch Type ?There are a number of different switch types available. Manual switches physically complete the circuit by moving the contacts inside the torch. This type of switch passes through the body of the torch which adds a possible point of failure but are signifcantly cheaper to produce. Twist caps are very common. The diver simply twists the bottom cap or head unit to complete or break the circuit. Twist caps usually have a double o-ring to protect the battery and electronics from damage. The disadvantage of a twist cap is that if the diver was to unscrew the cap too much when turn off the torch there is a very small risk that the torch could flood Magnetic switches are becoming more popular as they do not need to pass through the body of the torch and instead use magnets to operate the torch. Really long lasting light , that keeps your hands free , if things get a little "tight" inside a wreck . Also makes a great second , or " fill in " light when taking photos . Would have given it 10 stars if possible . Possibly the only down side is that , it is not a single hand operation when adjusting the light
Loading...Still getting used to the hand mounting (it is a pity that other options are not available to give greater flexibility), but the torch itself is fantastic.
One of the reasons I went for this torch was all the options (wide/narrow beam and varying intensity), so it takes a little bit of time to work out how to get the beam and intensity you want with just the single sliding switch.
Loading...Cracking torch, very powerful and lasts a long time. Never mind how easy it is to use. The only down side is that I wish it was still teal coloured like in the video. Other than that, absolute bargain, you get an incredibly powerful torch I'd be happy to pay alot more for.

Loading...Bought this light towards the end of 2017, have done around six dives down to around 50m and am really pleased with this light. My buddy has a can light he paid well over £1000 for and in my opinion this light is just as bright, without the cables and will last, I have used over four dives on a weekend without charging. I would recommend this light for its ease of use alone, burn time and variable output work well and the controls are easy to use with 3mm gloves on. I will update this review when I have had more use out of it.
