The Apeks KVR1 AirCore Drysuit is a unique dual layer drysuit with an internal dry layer and external protective shell made from ballistic fibre.  The inner AirCore layer is breathable and completely watertight so you will stay dry from both diving and sweating.  The external skin is a loose ballistic strength para-aramid fibre that is abrasion and cut resistant.

 

*Please note this drysuit is fitted with neoprene socks and rock boots are required

Dump Valve Type
?Dump valves allow a diver to vent excess air from the suit to achieve the required buoyancy.

Typically two different dump valves types are available, an automatic valve mounted to the shoulder which has adjustable sensitivity, as the air pressure builds up inside the suit the valve will open at its predetermined setting to reduce the air volume.

The other dump valve is a one way valve mounted by one of the cuff seals which is operated by raising and lowering the valve to release air as required

Inflator Type
?An inflator valve allows a diver the add addition air into the suit to increase the buoyancy. Two generic types of inflator valve exist.

A fixed inflator valve is installed and set at a pre-determined angle. The disadvantage is that it can not be altered if you wish to route your inflator hose a different way.

A swivel inflator eliminates this problem by allowing the inflator to swivel though 360 degree, giving far more potential for hose routing.

?Dry suits are commonly fitted with rubber boots which in some cases are also neoprene lined to increase the thermal properties. Some suits, however, are fitted with neoprene stocks so that divers are able to choose their preferred footwear such as neoprene or laced boots.

?Whether the dry suit is fitted with or is supplied with internal braces to increase the comfort of the suit. Braces help to keep excess material up around the torso area where the extra freedom of movement is required.

Suit Entry Type
?The suit zip is commonly installed across the back of the shoulders, but can also be found diagonally across the front of the torso.

A rear entry zip is usually easier to get on and off but does require a buddy to initially open and close the zip.

A front entry zip allows the diver to open and close the suit zip alone without the need of assistance. The zip location and cut of the suit panels can hinder donning and doffing of the suit to some degree though.

Suit Material
?Membrane suits are typically made using thin materials laminated together in layers. A membrane suit by itself provides very little thermal protection against the elements so a diver is reliant upon a seperate thermal layer to maintain body temperature. Membrane dry suits typically do not stretch, so they need to be made oversized and baggy to allow flexibility at the joints and this also makes a membrane dry suits easy to put on and get off.

Neoprene suits are made from a synthetic rubber material which contains millions of air bubbles, providing far greater thermal protection without the need for a seperate thermal layer. Additional, should the suit be punctured or torn the suit will still maintain a significant amount of its thermal properties. As the suits are made from a fairly rigid material and are designed to fit reasonably close it can be more difficult to to get on and off.
