Freediving Wetsuits

Freedivers and spearfishers tend to spend much longer in the water than scuba divers so they need a more effective exposure protection to keep them warm. Freediving suits tend to be much tighter than scuba diving wetsuits and many don't have an inner lining that while fragile, stops water from moving around the suit. Suits with this open cell lining must be donned carefully and only with a soapy water mix to lubricate you to get into the suit. Freediving suits can be in two parts with a jacket and separate trousers or salopette. The Jacket usually has an integrated hood to keep your head and neck warm and a beaver tail that holds the bottom of the suit in place. The trousers will either have a high waist to cover your abdomen or a salopette to cover your entire core.
