World Record Underwater Radio Show November 19, 2010 by lukesheppard
Radio Presenter Maria Holland from the Basildon Hospital Radio, broadcast her show 6 metres underwater last Saturday for an official Guinness World Record. Maria managed to break the Guinness World Record as well as the Essex FM record by broadcasting er radio show underwater for a total of 4 hours 4 minutes and 23 seconds. As the show was being broadcast, two teams of Scuba divers competed against each other in ‘It’s a Splash Out’ (their underwater version of ‘It’s a Knockout’) to raise money for the Basildon Hospital radio. Games the divers took part in included underwater ten pin bowling, underwater darts and underwater fun run. Each team had to use a run made especially for the event along the tank floor, taking it over two hurdles, done by using lifting bags and then under a goal post by taking the wheels off. The wheels were then put back on for a dash to the finishing line. Check out the underwater broadcast below.
