Oceanic have released the following consumer notice about the VTX Dive Computer. A few units from a batch of computers have leaked during dives, with no incidents or injuries reported, and the manufacturer is keen to check similar computers just to be sure that all units are functioning properly.
IS MY COMPUTER AFFECTED?
Most computers will probably function properly for the rest of their natural working life but in the interest of safety Oceanic are offering a free service and housing upgrade for peace of mind. The only dive computers that are affected are Oceanic VTX computers with serial numbers between EW-000565 - EW-003632 that can be found on the back of the computer and the outside of the blue box it came in.
WHAT DO I DO NOW?
If your dive computer is affected you have a couple options but you need to return your VTX computer to Oceanic. You can do this by either sending it directly to the UK Head Office, address below, or by returning it to your closest Oceanic dealer, you can find your closest here. You do not have to return your VTX computer to the dealer you bought it from, you merely have to take it to your closest Oceanic Dealer. You also only have to return the VTX computer itself, you do not need to return any of it's accessories such as wireless transmitter or box as this can slow the process and extras can be lost in the process.
