Simply Scuba for World Oceans Day!

This Sunday it is World Oceans Day! This is a day to honour and celebrate our ocean, which being the scuba fans that we all are, comes quite naturally to us. However this is also a great day to spread awareness and inspire those who are perhaps not quite so as connected to the deep blue as us. On the Sunday the 8th, a few of us will be doing a beach clean at our local beach to celebrate and do our bit to help our oceans as well as having our very own World Ocean's Day Fundraiser on Monday the 9th back at Simply Scuba HQ. We will be holding a sealife themed bake sale, shark sweepstakes, ocean awareness games, wearing blue and telling two, making ocean promises and taking Selfies for the Sea!

You can join us on Facebook (simplyscubauk) and Twitter (@simplyscuba)  to celebrate World Ocean Day by sending us your own Selfie for the Sea! And include your own Ocean Promise to help spread the word about how we can all do something small to make a big difference. Don't forget to use the hashtag #WorldOceansDay

Here are some sample promises from the World Ocean's Day website where you can find out more:
  • I promise to use reusable bags at the grocery store
  • I promise to use a reusable water bottle
  • I promise to not eat meat on Mondays
  • I promise to take shorter showers
  • I promise to take public transportation to school/work once a week
  • I promise to only eat sustainably caught or farmed seafood
  • I promise to shop a charity shop/thrift store first instead of buying new
  • I promise to unplug my electronic chargers when not using them
  • I promise to turn off all the lights and the heat or A/C when I leave my house
  • I promise to bike instead of drive for at least one errand a week

  • Exceptional post but I was wondering if you could write a litte more on this
topic? I’d be very grateful if you could elaborate a little
    bit more. Many thanks!
