Shrek Look-a-like Fish Found in Japan

Last week scuba divers off of the Japanese coast came across an unusual looking fish which they believe resembles the animated ogre that is Shrek with its bizarre features.

In actual fact, the ‘Shrek fish’ is a commonly seen fish off the coast of Japan and is actually an Asian Sheephead Wrasse. Although common to Japan, the face of this particular Sheephead Wrasse is not so normal looking. It’s unique face which is a pinkish-grey colour has large swollen-like protrusions on its chin and forhead which is what caused the Divers to name it after Shrek. The male fish has been estimated to be 30 years old and lives off of shellfish and crustaceans on the ocean floor.
