Scuba and snorkelling enthusiasts can take part in the first ever dive festival to be held in Australia’s Heron Island resort. Organisers of the week-long event are hoping to make it annual affair that brings together professional and amateur divers, photographers and nature lovers. Heron Island, which is located on the southern Great Barrier Reef, is offering multiple package deals for people who wish to take part in the festival starting from September 5. Prices start from $299 (£192) per person per night, on a twin-share basis and a meals-included seven-night stay. Lectures, seminars and workshops will be accompanies by activities including two dives during the day and one at night. One of the workshops will cover underwater photography and videography techniques with expert guidance from professionals. Divers who wish to explore father afar along the reef will be able to charter boats during the day.
