Here at Simply Scuba we’re always on the hunt for new exciting brands and products so we’ve been watching an independent kickstarter company called Paralenz.  Paralenz have designed and manufactured a new action camera made specifically for SCUBA divers by divers.  The Paralenz cameraisn’t just another GoPro copy it has specific features made that are only really useful to SCUBA divers and snorkellers.

The Paralenz camera has a built in depth sensor which works with the cameras white balance so it can automatically adjust your cameras image as you change depth so your videos and pictures don’t come out all blue.

THE CAMERA

The camera itself is primarily an action video camera made to be double tough for any and all divers and snorkellers so you can take it wherever you want. 

INSIDE

Inside is a rechargeable LiPo 1600mAh that can run the camera for up to 3+ hrs that you can charge by a USB cable like so many other things in our lives now.

You can connect your camera to a desktop or mobile device via the USB cable or Bluetooth or WiFi so it’s easy to download your footage and free up some memory. Everything is recorded onto a Micro SD card, not included with the camera, so you can swap out and store your SD cards on your adventures, just not while you’re in the water…

Behind the 140° distortion corrected lens you can record 8MP images, 4k video and lower res videos upto 200fps.  The camera does record audio as well as your depth and the water temperature so you can better record and recall your dives.

A 0.5″ OLED display on the back tells you everything you need to know about the camera while you’re in the water.

OUTSIDE

Protecting the internals is a Military grade Aluminium and Polycarbonate body that is waterproof to 200m so you really can take it wherever you go.  The body has mounting rails on all sides so you can mount it to a mask strap or wherever you want really.

A rotating collar lets you change the mode of the camera easily and a simple trigger to activate mean you can use it even with chunky gloves, no more fiddle little buttons.
