A new luxury resort is to welcome guests to the Maldives from October, it has been announced The Per Aquum NIYAMA Maldives sits on the islands of Embudhufushi and Olhuveli in the atoll of Dhaalu. Guests can fly to the resort from the Maldivian capital of Male in a journey said to take around 40 minutes. Per Aquum has described the new resort as “the hottest opening of 2011”, calling it “edgy and modern”. Upon arrival guests will be shown to one of 86 studio and pavilion rooms – which offer deck areas where guests can sit down and look out over the beach.

And if people want a bite to eat or another drink but do not wish to move from their lounger, there is a 24-hour butler service on hand. If you cannot get enough of snorkelling and swimming during the day, perhaps the resort’s unique underwater club will be up your street? Neil Palmer, chief executive of Per Aquum, said: “We have dedicated a lot of time to the creation of NIYAMA and have been extremely fortunate to be able to develop these two beautiful islands using Per Aquum’s visionary and iconic design philosophy. “We wanted to create a luxury contemporary and vibrant resort for the stylish, aspirational traveller. NIYAMA will incorporate traditional Maldivian elegance in a naturally modern aesthetic.”
