Here at Simply Scuba we’re very excited to introduce our newest brand Shearwater. Shearwater Research design and manufacture high quality and reliable dive computers aimed at advanced and technical divers.
Shearwater is a Canadian company started by Bruce Partridge and his wife Lynn after he sold his IT company and retired in 1996. Both technical divers, during his retirement looking to keep himself occupied Lynn suggested Bruce create a competitive trimix dive computer as the ones already on the market were difficult to use. Every dive computer has been designed and made to fill a gap in the market, not just to sell computers but to fill a need for a certain computer that nobody else offers.
The GF was their first fully trimix computer they designed and produced as they wanted a simple dive computer that is smart enough to anticipate your needs during each stage of the dive.
Shearwater computers are made to be Powerful, Simple and Reliable. Powerful that they can anticipate your needs and enable you to do more. A bright easy to read screen and long battery life are paired with the flexibility of switching between OC and CCR modes and changing set points and other settings easily on the dive. Simplicity comes from the smart user interface that will change the menu structure and that they run off a single AA battery that you can change yourself and replace wherever you are in the world. Reliability is the foundation that has built the trust of thousands of divers all over the world that recommend Shearwater computers.
The range now includes the Petrel, Perdix and Nerd computers. All with Open Circuit Trimix and CCR modes built into them they are easy to understand and use. The Petrel comes in two models the standard and EXT model which includes a Fischer Connector to integrate your rebreather. Built for function over form the Petrel is rugged and reliable.
The Perdix is the newest computer in the range right now and has two versions; standard and AI. AI stands for Air Integration so you can pair a wireless transmitter with it. The Perdix is much the same on the inside as the Petrel but in a sleeker body. A slightly smaller screen gives you a better battery life.
