February 2019 sees the launch of a brand-new dive show, and it is shaping up to be an epic affair. With more than 58 speakers – and counting! – spread across no less than six stages, and a whole host of immersive experiences, it is going to be truly interactive day out for all the family.
BBC TV presenters Andy Torbet and Miranda Krestovnikoff, stars of Coast, The One Show and Beyond Bionic, are acting as comperes for the Main Stage, which will be hosting headline celebrities such as freediving legend Umberto Pelizzari, Discovery Channel regular, Hollywood stunt diver and freediving record-breaker Mehgan Heaney-Grier, technical diving icon and film-maker Jill Heinerth, adventurer and TV favourite Monty Halls, world-famous professional mermaid Linden Wolbert and award-winning underwater photographer Alex Mustard MBE.
There are then dedicated stages for the realms of travel, underwater photography, technical diving and freediving, and these will be home to established names on the speaking circuit as well as fresh new faces making their debut.
GO Diving Show will also have the Inspiration Stage, which is aimed at those new to diving or just interested in finding out more about the sport, and speakers will be aiming to dispel some of the myths about diving, and further enthuse new blood into the industry.
Visitors can also get involved first-hand with the interactive elements of the show. There will be several Masterclasses to sign up for where you can get hand’s-on training, and with two 100 sq m pools, there is plenty of room for trydives, freediving sessions, snorkelling and tech dives. The navigation challenge will see how good participants are with a compass, the trim machine will help divers learn how to achieve that god-like horizontal position, and the S-drill competition will give techies the opportunity to try and post a faster shutdown time than the training gurus. Ever been tempted by cave diving? At GO Diving you can venture into our labyrinth-like 30-metre-long cave system – will you be afraid of the dark?
You can also dive around the world without getting wet! The Discovery Channel Shark Week VR experience puts you in the middle of an adrenalin-pumping shark dive, and other virtual reality dives on offer include a spectacular cave dive, spell-binding wreck dive and even an encounter with friendly seals.
Of course, as well as this plethora of activities to get involved in, there are also a host of booths showing equipment, resorts, dive boats, destinations and much more to inspire your next diving jaunt, while The Next Generation section is purely aimed at keen kids and talented teens who are starting out on their watery adventure.
The GO Diving Show is 23-24 February 2019, with a trade-only show on Friday 22 February. Tickets are available now – www.godivingshow.com
