This year’s Dive Fest is just around the corner, have you got your tickets yet? The Dive fest is the biggest diving festival in the UK which takes place in Pentewan Sands Holiday Park in Cornwall. It’s a good excuse for divers from all over the UK to get together and have a big party, along with food and music events as well as dive equipment and travel stalls. Last year, over 1000 divers attended the event and this year sees the arrival of a new clubhouse and swimming pool at the holiday park. The 2010 Dive Fest takes place the first May bank holiday weekend, from Friday 30th April until Monday 3rd May. This year they have added a extra day to the event and it is said to be even bigger and better than last year’s festival. The tickets cost £40 for the whole weekend and this includes a curry dinner on the Saturday night. Children under 16 can go free if they are accompanied by a adult holding a ticket (although the curry meal isn’t included). So what’s on? On the Friday night you can get settled in at 6pm and then later on let your hair down at the Life on Mares party where girl band Eden will be performing as well as the People’s String Foundation. On Super Saturday get your curry dinner followed by loads of evening entertainment, including Flava, the street dancing act from Britain’s Got Talent, a great bonfire on the beach as well as fire dancing act Poi Passion. The headline act, 4 Tons of Funk, soul singer Paul McGahan will be topping off the entertainment in the clubhouse. Spend Sunday in the Caribbean – well almost! Join the Caribbean party for £5 and see the film Cayman Went, do a little rum tasting, feast on a Caribbean dinner and listen to a live reggae band! Even if you’re not in the Caribbean you will feel like you are with this fantastic steel drum band. If you want tickets to this even you will have to get in quick on arrival because there are only 350 tickets available. As well as these evenings of entertainment there’s lots to do in the day including Dive Dive Dive where Hardboat and RIB diving will be going on all day and BSAC will be providing try-dives and snorkelling sessions in the pool for those of you who want a little taster. Once you’ve done some diving head to the Dive Hub where exhibitors will be showing off the latest dive equipment and must have gadgets as well as great diving destinations. You will also find lots of other fun activities going on including a treasure hunt where your treasure can be redeemed for prizes, photography competitions, circus acts. Join Flava in a dance workshop and find out more about the British Divers Marine Life Rescue and The Shark Trust. Best of all enjoy everything the gorgeous Pentewan Sands beach has to offer in the Cornish, Mevagissey Bay. You will not be disappointed.
