Croc In The English Channel?

Yes, you heard us right, alarm bells started to ring when sightings of a Crocodile were reported near the port of Boulougne. French authorities were sent into panic after hearing reports of a Crocodile on the loose last Thursday when two French men said that they saw the giant ‘beast’, circling around sailing boats. The French authorities thought the the predator was a saltwater crocodile, measuring anything between 9 and 12ft in length. Experts said that after a long swim, the croc would likely be freezing cold, very tired and more importantly, starving. Further sighting were said to have come from other witnesses, according to local newspaper ‘The Voice Of The North.’ Officials issued warnings in both French and English over tannoys along the beach because they didn’t want to take any chances. All local Zoo’s and Amphibian centres were contacted to see if any of the saltwater beasts had escaped – and of course, none had. It was safe to say that the French authorities were made to look silly after their ‘prey’ was found to just be a harmless piece of driftwood on Friday. Boulogne council spokesman, clearly irritated by the whole fiasco said: “It’s easy to be clever in hindsight. It’s not every day a crocodile alert is raised so we had to be really careful. Perhaps too careful.”
