Information

The Suunto EON Core Dive Computer is a bright, intuitive colour screen wrist computer made for the travelling diver who wants an easy to under stand computer that they can read in all conditions.  The colour screen can be fully customised to your needs and the Core's software can be updated at a later date by connecting to DM5.

A lighter and more compact version of the popular EON Steel Dive Computer but with many of the same features and benefits the Core sits just below the Steel in the Suunto range.  Inside the Core is much the same as the steel and has a similar structure but it is made out of lighter materials.

Colour Screen

The TFT LED screen has a full range of colours that make it intuitive to read, even at a glance.  You can change the brightness of the screen to make it easier to read in any environment.

You have a choice of display formats from graphic, numerical and a new prominent that either show you pure numbers for depth, air remaining etc. or circles for a more natural view or a mixture of the two.  As with the Eon Steel you can create and organise multiple pages or screens that you can flip through during the dive for different information.

Flexible

Along with the choice of screen layouts you can change the orientation of the computer so you can invert the screen to wear it on either arm with the buttons facing either direction.  You can also fit an optional bungee strap for a flexible mounting option.

I've bought Suunto computers for several years now as I like the general quality and usability of their products. Unfortunately though as I get a little older my eyesight is getting a little worse and I'm finding it hard to make out the info on my D6, so it was time to look for an alternative. This computer fits the bill perfectly. The screen is fairly big, bright, colour coded, and easy to read. It's also really easy to navigate. A big bonus is that you can easily change the display layout in DM5 on your Mac or PC, and create display custom settings. This isn't a gimmick, it really does make reading and navigating the computer much easier. Overall a great computer and perfect for recreational diving.

The EON core is the latest Suunto colour screened model. Screen is sharp and layout can be customised to show elements you are interested in (good) and can have as much or as little data as you wish depending on your preference regarding size of figures. One point on this, in bright sunlight even in the UK, you will really need to run full brightness and this will reduce battery life to no more than 15 hours. Customisation is done with DM5 on Mac/PC only. You cannot do this on the Movescount app. This is a gas switching computer supporting plenty of gasses, Nitrox/Trimix. DM5 to enable /disable trimix for example. Things possibly to note: - If you are doing say 26% back gas and 50% deco, the ascent time includes the use of the 50%, NOT the ascent time for the gas you are on and then when you switch shortening stops. - Gas switch is easy enough, but pressing the button does not instantly switch when it says change gas if you program two, you have to enter the menu and choose select for the gas you want - you might have 3 or 4 you see (well I guess that is why). - The plan function cannot plan for the deco gas, only standard single gas diving (this seems poor for a computer of this cost) - you have to use DM5 for this planning. - charger cable is USB and of course custom and expensive - Fused RGBM is notably LESS conservative by default than a Gallileo. Nice computer, but possibly for the tech diver it lacks a little - but alot cheaper than OSTC/Shearwater etc.

It’s great to be able to have some control over the display settings and personalise the computer to suit your specific needs. A nice bright display and simple menu operation. It would be nice if Suunto had included the bungee attachment in the box as I think they have a bit of a cheek asking so much extra for so little materials. That’s the only reason it didn’t get 5 sttars.

Clear screen with a very long battery life. Large strap that fits easily around a drysuit. The dive log uploads to your phone automatically after each dive - as long as you have the app.
