Steel dive knives are the most common and there are a few features to look out for. The first thing you need to look at is the material, most high quality steel knives are made from 316 Stainless Steel which is marine grade steel which is rust resistant but not rust proof so you need to wash and dry your knife after every dive, especially diving in salt water. Some dive knives can be disassembled for easy cleaning between dives. Most knives will have a straight cutting edge which is great for precise cuts but some will have serrated edges for thicker lines and a line cutting notch which is for small fishing lines.
