Snorkelling gear and snorkeling equipment are great for a holiday in the sun so you and your family can explore the ocean. Essentially you only require three snorkelling items: a mask, snorkel and a pair of fins. Recently it has been possible to combine the mask and snorkel into a single item as a snorkel mask but this does have some limitations especially if you want to descend from the surface. The snorkelling mask will let you see underwater and keep water out of your eyes and nose. The best configuration comes from scuba diving of a dive mask (there is no difference between a dive mask and a snorkel mask) which forms airspace in front of your eyes so you can focus. If you wear glasses you can purchase a prescription snorkelling mask with corrective lenses so you can see clearly. A snorkel which fits on the left of the mask (for diving reasons) and allows you to keep your face in the water whilst breathing on the surface whilst snorkeling. They can range from a simple snorkelling tube to breathe through, to dry snorkels with valves on either end to keep water out. Ironically the simpler ones are more suitable for experienced snorkelers whilst the more feature-loaded versions suitable for novices. Fins or flippers go on your feet and help you move through the water when snorkelling with ease. Nervous snorkelers may prefer not to wear fins but moving around will be more difficult. When it comes to snorkelling, rash vests and wetsuits help protect you from the sun, marine stings and keep you warm so you're safe and comfortable.
