Used to secure my DSMB to the reel when stored on my BCD until I need to use it, then its quick to slip the cord off the DSMB ready to release it. The only thing I don't like about this, is that when you have cut the end, it tends to fray quite easil

Not sure what you can say about shock cord. It is what it is I have used this to secure my dive knives.
