A great way to extend the life of a great torch. If you own an older UK 400 like mine you will have to make a minor moddification as the front plate has two hooked prongs that sick out from the front and stop the lamphead fitting the body of the torch. You can either carefuly remove the prongs with a junior hacksaw or as I did drill the back plate of the lamphead to accomodate them (having first checked the reverse side to see no harm would be done), Take care not to damage the reflector cone.

I have two UK rechargeable dive lights and dropped one of the battery packs in the carpark just before a shore dive in Oban at which point my £50.00 block of blue plastic exploded to reveal 4 "D" sized Sanyo rechargeable batteries. Naturally the soldered straps linking them together also broke. Given the short nnotice, I had to purchase another pack for the next days dive. Having bought two sets of these plates I can now use my rechargeables AND any disposables I like. Yes, I know the wattage is different but if you are given the choice of shortened battery life or a wasted dive what would you do? Added to this the fact I can now intelligently charge my batteries instead of risking overheating the pack by using the supplied transformer in one hour rather than 15 and you can see why this is the best bargain out.
