I was recommended the 2G by a DIR technical diver...

I was recommended the 2G by a DIR technical diver as an alternative to the usual Suunto Vyper. You don't need to be a technical diver to use it. I found it easy to use with a few nice features. I particularly like the fact it displays minutes AND seconds on the safety stop; when you are in Vobster at 7 degrees you want to know exactly how long you have left before it's time for a warming deco-burger! You have to trigger the safety stop manually, which some people don't like, but I prefer. I also like the fact that you can set the back-light to be on permanently, which is great for evening Dives in the UK when your hands are full. It is very quick to change from air to a Nitrox profile, I have seen other divers fiddling with their computers for several minutes. It is definitely worth getting a wristmount with elastic no matter what computer you have. I bought an Aladin Tec 2G a year ago and loved it. It went missing recently, so it was my first choice as a replacement. Now my original has turned up I have decided to keep the new one as a spare! Once again, Simply Scuba had the best price and fast delivery - cheers guys!

once you get used to the short/long press button operation...

once you get used to the short/long press button operation scrolling thru the menu or backwards is easy. numbers a bit small, not as clear as old aladin pro. biggest bug is the wet contacts which may keep the computer on and locked to the last dive till they dry internaly off. keep the contact surfaces very clean and always good rinse in warm water before stowing. if comp. stays on then quick blast of air directly onto contacts always does the job. or switch wet contacts OFF. Comp. will auto come on after max one min. in water submerged. nitrox modes excellent. have dived for 50plus dives last summer. time will tell if it will last like my old aladin pro, still workink fine 15years later!!
