Tusa's Imprex Tri-Ex Fins are fins with world-class efficiency, making the most of your energy. In 1993 TUSA introduced the IMPREX fin to the market. This fin achieves strong propulsion by combining two different materials to create an efficient water channelling action. Since it first went on sale, over 600,000 divers have used it worldwide and it has been the undisputed leader in the plastic fin market. Now, over a decade later, they are moving to the next development stage.

This next generation IMPREX Tri-Ex fin utilizes three different materials:

-First is the side rib (hard material), efficiently converting the energy of a kick into propelling power.
-Second is the blade (medium-hard material), increasing the efficiency of the water channel.
-Third is the soft pocket (soft material), enhancing the fitting comfort of the boots. The designers expanded the blade angle theory that had produced a strong propulsion force with only a light kick.

A fin testing robot was used to do a computer analysis of the propulsion (speed) and electrical load when kicking. Tests were also run using real divers in a water circulating pool. After repeating these tests many times, the blade angle was set at 20 degrees, the most comfortable for the diver. A smooth shape was also created with no level differences between the foot pocket and the blade. This means that compared with conventional products, less initial load (energy) is required when first starting to kick. The excellent fit and efficient transmission of energy ensures that body fatigue and air consumption is minimised.

Great build quality

Great build quality; a firm but flexible fin. Great value too. The straps are simple, sturdy and comfortable; they can withstand week long 'dive boat punishment' well. The foot pocket is both deep and wide enough accommodate nearly my entire foot; I like my heel to be as covered as possible and they suit me just fine. I have used them in the Red Sea over 5 years; they are robust and deliver excellent 'paddle' thrust for flutter and/or frog kicks. They also allow good control for back finning/hovering. You cannot go wrong with these provided your technique is correct. Thoroughly recommended.

Only tried these for 20 minutes in a pool so far but I'm impressed and can't wait to use them on a dive. The fins feel and perform like a quality product, the propulsion is surprisingly good, and the foot pocket is very comfortable (wearing boots). Can't comment on fatigue as I didn't use them for long enough but I don't expect any issues. My size 12-13 UK feet are a good fit for the XL's with 5mm boots. £58 is very good value for money in my book and the service from simplyscuba was trouble free.

Having moved from split fins to full fins

Having moved from split fins to full fins, I expected to feel a noticable difference when diving in a current. However didn't noptice a difference at all.

The TUSA Imprex Tri

The TUSA Imprex Tri-Ex fins are a well engineered good looking and they are very, very comfortable in use. I find that only a limited effort is required to get the best possible propulsion out of them. The only downside might be that they do tend to slip and slide on some poolside tiles.

The sizing is completely wrong

The sizing is completely wrong. I am a UK size 7 so got the medium size which were recommended for 6-9. In my dry suit boots you could just get away with them but in my warm water booties they completely swallowed my feet.

Definitely a brill pair of fins

Definitely a brill pair of fins. I hadn't tried any other makes of adjustable fins only full foot but this size S fitter by size 5.5 female foot with Tusa fin shoes on perfectly. Very good even though I was new to the sport it was worth the money as they will last me years. Make sure you mark your fins though as loads of people have these now especially the silver and black ones, they get muddled up on dive boats otherwise.

Dive magazine was totally absolutely right

Dive magazine was totally absolutely right. As mobile as the best of the split fins, and really comfortable to use during normal conditions, but if and when you really need the power, they have it in reserve, huge force/speed possible. Where have these been all my dives?I have had no size problems, I am a UK10, and the large fin fits both my drysuit and semi-dry. My girfriend has the same fins now, and she is a ladies UK6 and Small is fine for her. - Treat yourself!

Excellent fins

Excellent fins, slightly stiffer than my old Quattros and therefore suit my finning style better. Also prefer the simpler straps. Only complaint is the sizing - i needed an extra large to accomodate my size 8 drysuit boot, as opposed to teh reular size of my quattros.
