Had to give in and purchase this overpriced cableHad to give in and purchase this overpriced cable, all dive computers downloaded without a problem. Will now make this available to my dive club to reduce the number of people being ripped off, there is no justification for the inflated cost of this cable.

Cable works wellCable works well, automatically connected and installed the USB drivers with no problem (WIN 7 Ultimate version), however I'm a bit disappointed with the facilities of the DM4 software (which you download off the web) but this might just be I am not completely familiar with it and haven't had any actual dives on the dive new computer to load onto it yet.

It is a pity that niether the Viper book or...It is a pity that niether the Viper book or the Dive Manager help files show a picture of the connection lead plugged into the Viper, as I was not sure which way around it should be plugged in. Also I had problems downloading the dives off the Viper onto the Dive Manager. In the end I had to close the program down and start again after many attemps.

Fantastic little bit of kit and in my opinion well...Fantastic little bit of kit and in my opinion well worth adding to your dive comp. Helps to plan dives or relive your dive through your dive comp info. In addition allows you to print Dive logs with every bit of info you require. Fantastic Used this for all my dive logs since buying.

An excellent piece of software but rather expensive cableAn excellent piece of software but rather expensive cable. The cable physically fits nice and snug onto back of dive computer. One tip not obvious from software "help" files - to add old dives manually after downloading current dives from dive computer, when you edit dive date the software re-sorts the dives by date order. Hence when all old dives added, you should end up with dives correctly numbered to match paper dive-log. Would be better if download had a "start at number xxx" feature.

I rate this product so low because of two main...I rate this product so low because of two main reasons:
1- extremely expensive for a USB cable!!!
2- poor connection mecchanism between wrist computer and cable.
If i knew the cable was so expensive, I wouldn't buy a suunto computer in the first place

I have rated this item so lowI have rated this item so low, not because of the quality of the product or because of the quality of service received from SimplyScuba but because Suunto have taken advantage of their customers for charging so much money for a cable! One end is a common USB connector, the other a specific connector to fit the D6. The software that comes in the box is freely available from the Suunto website.
I personally believe that Suunto could do better by including this cable and software with every dive computer free of charge.

The software itself works fineThe software itself works fine (though the CD is useless as you'll have to download the latest version from the Suunto website - make sure you download the right version for your computer!).
However my gripe comes with the insanely fiddly connection (between the dive computer and the pc) and how long it took me to finally get it to connect. Be prepared: it's not easy!

I bought the SDM to use with my newly purchased...I bought the SDM to use with my newly purchased Vyper Air and when I installed the software that came with the SDM I found that is was out of date so had do download a later version. CD has no value- so point lost.
After I finally got the SDM and the Vyper Air to talk to each other, the SDM recognised that I had done 18 dive with my DC but only downloaded 14 dives (left out the first 4)! If you have a suggestion on this then let ME know- so point lost.
Otherwise its great to analise you dives and add more info for each dive. Still weary, will continue to log stuff on my log book as well.

Lost two mark for cost and the fact that the...Lost two mark for cost and the fact that the CD that comes with it can actually be downloaded from the website anyway. I have used it with the D6 and it slots and twists right in (once you are brave enough to push a little bit harder). Transfer is mega quick and software is great especially if you amend the sample time to 1 second. (ps I am using on XP system, double check if you have Vista)

What a fab piece of kitWhat a fab piece of kit. As I have Windows Vista, I didn't know how well this would install. Just went to the Sunnto website, downloaded the Dive Manager, plugged in the USB & hey presto it downloaded automatically without me even installing the disc. Brilliant.

My wife learnt with Suunto and wanted the ViperMy wife learnt with Suunto and wanted the Viper. I personally prefer Uwatec. This device is a bit fiddly to install and use to transfer and is expensive for a USB cable. Uwatec use infrared, which I prefer. If you are looking for a dive computer, think about this. I would go with a Uwatec computer and do without the cabling.

This I am sure is a useful piece of kit...This I am sure is a useful piece of kit which I will appeciate as a I log more dives, but it is a bit of a pain trying to input some of the location and dive settings - and if inputted incorrectly, it seems impossible to reverse some of the fields you (me) set by accident. Personal thought, probably only of use to someone who really wants to look at their dive history and has a requirement to use the data to learn from it.

Not a bad bit of kitNot a bad bit of kit, but does have a few drawbacks. The software is very cluncky and seems 5 years behind the times - but does work and does allow you to change some of the settings on your dive computer such as sample rates. Both my wife and I have Mosquito's - the software allows multiple users (although you can't delete the default login record).
The connection onto the Mosquito is a bit sensitive but does work fine. Thank goodness for the USB - finally

Pretty easy to set up and then connect to a...Pretty easy to set up and then connect to a Vyper. Once the data has been downloaded - it allows for a very full dive log (Sites, equipement etc) to be made based upon the information from your DC and that input by hand. The user interface is still a little quirky but for those with Suunto computers its a worthwhile purchase if they wish to easily recall & review their dives.

This takes a little getting used toThis takes a little getting used to ; but I soon was able to connect it to my Vyper dive computer and get the profiles downloaded. Finally Suunto have made a USB version of the downloading cable (instead of the serial version) so that it can connect to modern computer!
