This is the best back up torch i have owned

This is the best back up torch i have owned,in fact in many cases it could be the only underwater lamp you would ever need. The build quality is superb, it is easy to use and change the batteries.Small enough to be carried in a bcd pocket and with a double o ring system ,in my opinion, it is virtually impossible to flood.I have owned, and still own ,torches over ten times the price of this one but for the price nothing can touch it.

This is a very nice torch indeed

This is a very nice torch indeed. It seems very bright for just 3 AA batteries. I looked for a torch that took 4 batteries but failed to find one as good as this. 3 batteries can be a pain to charge. The supplied lanyard is a waste of time but that's hardly a worry. It's a superb bit of machined aluminium. I would like to see a little more of the second O ring concealed when the torch is turned off, just to give a feeling of greater security that when turning off you do not unwittingly unscrew it.

I loved this light untill I took it on my first dive where it flooded. No I did not do more than a turn and half tu turn it on. Not sure if it was a defective light, o rings or just bad luck. I would very much like to try another one or at least see some good reviews on the net. Unfurtunately havent seen any so far, then again haven't seen bad ones either -to be fair. For the 10 minutes that it lasted it was awesome :|

In the absence of any internet reviews

In the absence of any internet reviews, I took a gamble and purchased the Hollis LED 3 - I’m glad I did. The torch is a very well constructed precision-engineered unit with a high output LED lamp. Although it is primarily marketed as a back-up torch, for most recreational divers, it would serve well as a primary for travel abroad. It’s not the lightest, but that would only be achieved with poorer quality materials – in other words, it looks built to last. I am replacing the supplied cord with something a little more substantial from Cetacea. I have yet to try it out in the water, but a good test will be in a Mexican Cenotes in a couple of weeks.
