Ladies Thermocline Long Shorts from Fourth Element.
Thermocline is probably the most versatile thermal protection system for use in extreme watersports. Breathable, comfortable and lightweight, the garments are also fast drying with the equivalent thermal performance of 2.5mm neoprene. Made using Polartec® Aqua Shell® fabric, the garments are also neutrally buoyant and machine washable. The Thermocline system can be used as a lightweight wetsuit, pool training suit or as an effective additional thermal layer underneath a wetsuit or semi dry.
Recommended Uses
Under a wetsuit or semi dry.
The neutral buoyancy of the Thermocline means that it can be used underneath a wetsuit or semidry without affecting buoyancy, but still providing significant additional protection for the body core. The fleece lining increases comfort and the thermocline continues to provide windproof protection after removing the wetsuit.
For divers, the neutral buoyancy means that the Thermocline Garments can be layered underneath a wetsuit without changing the weightbelt configuration for the wetsuit on its own. This is excellent for night dives or for making repetitive dives.
As a lightweight wetsuit
With the thermal equivalent of 2.5 mm neoprene, the Thermocline garments can be worn as lightweight wetsuits in tropical conditions.
Neutral buoyancy makes the Thermocline ideal for diving as a much lighter weight belt will be needed, if at all and the breathability of the fabric makes it ideal for surface waterspports such as kayaking, wind surfing, kitesurfing and dinghy sailing.
They have SPF 30+ and make excellent cover ups for snorkelling.
As a pool training suit
For scuba instructors, divemasters and swimming instructors, the breathability of the Polartec (R) Aqua Shell (R) fabric means that the Thermocline is much more comfortable out of the water but the thermal performance provides protection during extended times in the swimming pool, when activity may not be enough to generate enough warmth.
Note: The Thermocline garments should be tight fitting without restricting movement. Generally, the tighter fitting they are, the better they work.
