The Dive Alert Plus is a specially designed, small, light weight pneumatic signaling device that uses quick-connect/disconnect hose fittings to become an integrated part of your power inflator. Installation is easy and takes only a moment. DiveAlertPlus does not require any modification of your other equipment, and it does not interfere in any way with the normal operation of your other equipment. When you need to get someone's attention on the water's surface, you simply select "AIR" operation with your diverter valve, press the button and Dive Alert Plus uses a small amount of air from your scuba tank to make a piercingly loud sound. Alternatively, when you want to get someone's attention under the water's surface, you simply select "H2O" operation with your diverter valve, press the button and Dive Alert Plus uses a small amount of air from your scuba tank to make a percussion noise to alert your dive buddy.

Does the job it

Does the job it's made for. I have a concern for the metal disc exposed (as seen in the picture) as I don't know what may happen to the functionality of the underwater alert if that takes a large knock.

This is an excellent

This is an excellent, compact underwater signalling device and also a very clear above water safety air horn. Have used this now for a couple of years and am buying this one as a replacement for one we lost last dive trip.

I ordered the air horn just before a dive trip...

I ordered the air horn just before a dive trip so I could try it straight away. I am VERY happy with it. I tested it under and above water and in both cases does work incredibly well. Under water position gives you a peculiar "quack" sound very distinctive when diving and wants to bring attention. I wouldn't recommend to use it all the time and keep it for just when you really want to make others aware of something or something is wrong ( it may scare fish). But it is on the surface where this little device shines at the most. It IS VERY LOUD!!!! If you use it without covering your ears ( or plugging your head underwater) it will make you deaf for few minutes. I can definitely bring attention if f you are in trouble. Really recommendable. Such small, portable and incredibly useful gadget that I wouldn't dive without now

Probably the best air horn out there on the market

Probably the best air horn out there on the market. Good if you loose your buddy underwater if very bad visibility. On the surface keep away from your ears when using, the noise is deafening. I've tested it around the world on different dive boats and it has worked effectively and from some distance too. An essential piece of kit for all levels of divers

The air horn is a bit bulkier than other products

The air horn is a bit bulkier than other products, however serves signaling functions above and below surface. I like it and it is a valuable tool as instructor.

Excellent piece of equipment

Excellent piece of equipment,especially under water when diving in Barbados to alert other divers of stingrays,and other aquatic life.Try not to annoy your dive buddies at the surface air horn is fairly loud,All are welcome to come and dive in Barbados

My buddy and I found we needed something like this...

My buddy and I found we needed something like this after a few experiences where we missed spotting amazing fish or similar on very fast drift dives, but also for safety uses underwater it sounds (ha ha) like a good idea. I got this unit, my buddy bought the Aquatec Scub Alert - both work great underwater to get the attention of the buddy without annoying everyone else in the water. Haven't had an opportunity to test it above water yet but I am sure it will be a valuable addition to avoiding "Open Water" (the movie) scenarios. However, keep in mind this unit is about twice the size of the Scub Alert or earlier models, and it takes a dive to get familiar with "all the extra" buttons right before the inflator hose buttons, so make sure you get a chance to familiarize yourself with the new setup before you go on unknown or difficult dives.
