Like all reels

Like all reels, I have found it very fiddly and difficult to use as a single operator. A couple of times I've noticed the line can spool out and wrap itself around the winding knob while I'm inflating the SMB, with the result that the line will snag and you will take off with your float. This happened once and I lost my SMB after the line severed on the edge of the metal guide. Still, at least I had my pricey SMB. Best to have your buddy inflate the SMB while you keep a careful eye on the reel.

Great reel

Great reel, tried it today with the smbci. Deployed at 35 meters and it ran very smooth! Didn't need to adjust the tension at all. Seems very solid. Don't think I would ever buy another brand of reel again! At the deco stop I just turned it on to ratchet and clipped it on to my BC, hung off it for my deco! Nice.

Very sturdy construction, good sized moving parts making the reel easy to operate with gloves or mitts on.

As with all Custom Divers kit the 70m ratchet is superior to most in quality and build. Once used to the tensioner and they way the line pays out from pay out guard ( we only find this strange at first because generally other reels have been inferior) the reel works like a dream. Only used as an SMB reel, I could crank a cow up on this! Its big, robust, well made and overall the dogs wotsits. Well recommended.

well made and a very positive ratchet on/off but a few annoying points. CD have changed there original clip that connects the piston clip to the reel from s/s to plastic.This is why i'm back looking for a replacement. The tensioner on this reel is internal and bit of a job to get just right as you have to reassemble it to test.Also if a reel is tensioned like this you might find it locking up after some use and as you cant dissasemble it....because of this I let it run free but I can only just get my finger on the spool to act as a clutch.Bigger hands would manage but my aren't particularily small. Finally it cant be changed over for lefthanders. All said I found it most suited as a smb reel.Its well made but I won't be buying another.

This is a fantastic reel and I recommend that you buy it with a coloured line as its easier to see than the white line. Very solid and has good clips.
