The XS Octopus makes a perfect companion to the Cressi XS2 regulator, utilising the same parts including body, valve mechanism with the expection of a longer yellow hose and face plate that aid visibility in an emergency.

 

The downstream valve provides extra safety, in the unlikely event of a failure the regulator will fail open, still providing the diver with air flow inorder to escape the situation. The air deviation control can be set to the minus position whilst the octopus isn't being used to prevent the regulator from free flowing and moved to the positive position if it needs to be used to provide better air flow.

i cannot fault this octopus or its 1st and 2nd...

i cannot fault this octopus or its 1st and 2nd stage equivillent, i have had my set for 2 years and dive at least once a week through the whole year, i have dived to 40 meters with it and it has never failed and i have never had a wet breath with it, i also have more expensive mares sets and would prefer the cressi every time, probable the cheapest set on the market but in my opinion a great piece of kit for a great peace of mind.

The internal metal parts have rusted after 1 year...

The internal metal parts have rusted after 1 year which is a bit concerning. After 3 seasons it is completely trashed. I know it is a low priced regulator but when parts rust I worry!

durable and good value

durable and good value. cannot fault. not the best but an honest item worth the more than the price it costs.
