Aqua Lung Zuma BCD - Palm Green

Aqua Lung Zuma BCD - Palm Green

£229.00 RRP £270.00  save 15%

The Aqua Lung Zuma is a travel friendly, lightweight backlift BCD. The ML/LG size weighs less than 2kg and can be rolled or folded in to a very small pack size which can easily be stowed in even the most weight restricted suitcases.

The Zuma BCD uses a minimalist harness with padding over the shoulders that is fitted with SureLock II integrated weight pockets for convenience whilst travelling. A drop down utlity pocket over one of the integreated pockets to provide storage for accessories such as a torch, delayed surface marker buoy, etc.

Weight is kept in check by using plastic d-rings in place of metal and a tough but lightweight material for the harness and rear buoyancy bladder. The Aqua Lung Zuma has a fully flexible backplate to allow for easy packing but to improve comfort whilst is use Aqua Lung have moved the main cylinder strap to the bottom to transfer weight to hips rather than on to the back and spine. The top restraining strap prevents the cylinder from coming out of line and altering the load transfer.

A brilliant BC

A brilliant BC. So lightweight that you can bring it on any travel without having to worry about those 44 lbs... Yet fully functional in the water. It acts a lot like a backplate / harness / wing system which I - having dived those in the past - enjoyed a lot. You get a perfect trim and adjusting buoyancy is very simple. It does look flimsy and I wish they would have made the straps a bit sturdier, seems like unnecessary weight saving there. Still, the BC stood up to the wear and tear of a one week live aboard trip in the Galapagos without any problems. The low profile means it's great for rough water as well. I loved using it in the strong currents off Wolf and Darwin. If I could add a wish list for a v 2.0 model, it would be alu d-rings instead of the plastic ones, slightly broader straps than the current 1 cm ones, and just a little bit of fabric on the back side of the waist straps / weight system pockets for placing the octo and the SPG, like the style Aqua Lung uses on their Pro QD / LT BCs.

A fantastic overall BCD

A fantastic overall BCD. It feels more like a back pack when worn, which is a plus in my eyes as it reduces the bulkiness of traditional BCDs. The fact it folds down to virtually nothing yet still manages to surpass everything I would look for ie dump valves, integrated weights (which give a distinctive 'click' when attached correctly), pocket (big enough to make use of) and d-rings (where I need them at the bottom). I brought the BCD originally to use with an 10yr old, but was so impressed with it, I subsequently purchased my own. Not only is it the ideal travel BCD due to the above qualities (I recently used it throughout a live aboard trip to Maldives), but I also use it daily whilst teaching. I would heartedly recommend this gem of a BCD to everyone and could honestly say I would never go back to using my old one.

excellent for calm sea diving and single ally cylinder diving

excellent for calm sea diving and single ally cylinder diving. needs d-rings on shoulder straps and inflation and deflation can be a bit fierce..

This is an excellent bcd

This is an excellent bcd. I bought one this summer and had 14 dives in Malta with it. It's my first bcd with integrated weights, which works well. When used with a long 12 l. steel or alu tank, the tank feels like an integrated part of the bcd. The only drawback of this product is the missing should strap d-rings and the only one small pocket.
