This Sealed SMB from AP Valves can be used as a delayed action deco-buoy or inflated prior to the dive and used as a dive duration SMB for drift dives, and is also useful as a distress flag which unlike normal open ended "sausage-style" SMBs can be waved to attract attention. Inflate at depth using your octopus and the SMB will automatically seal. The pressure dump valve prevents the buoy from over inflating and allows deflation after the dive.

You can make a delayed action decompression marker buoy by attaching it to a line or reel or alternatively simply inflate at the start of a dive and tow as a standard surface marker.

I have not had cause to deploy this DSMB yet

I have not had cause to deploy this DSMB yet, but build quality is good and I can't find any issues. Have had it in the water but only as a passenger so far. Rolls up well, comes with OP valve and a handy eyelet at the top to which you could attach a glow stick or even dive slate if you wanted to communicate something to your dive boat. Looks the business.

This is my second AP Valves sealed SMB

This is my second AP Valves sealed SMB - I love it. Very effective and packs down small enough to fit in my BCD pocket along with a reel. Make sure you empty out any water inside or it will stink after a few weeks!

A very well constructed buoy with an excellent self

A very well constructed buoy with an excellent self-sealing design so it stays inflated. Very bright colours and around 1.4m in length when deployed. Only criticism would be that the pull cord on the dump valve needs a toggle in the end. Otherwise a very very good SMB - highly recommended.

An excellent product

An excellent product, the sealed end the length allows you to use the DSMB as a swimming float (under your arms) for both you and your buddy on those long swims back to shore.

This should be the standard SMB

This should be the standard SMB. you can use it as as a lift bag, you can inflate by blowing in one end and it's like blowing into a paper bag instead of a straw so it inflates quickly. Or you can use purge your octo and and fill it that way instead. It hold air superbly - unlike other cheap SMBs thta have an oral stem valve. What else ... stays very inlated and the dual color is VERY visible. dump valv is same construction as that found on a BCD. This is perfect SMB if you want to inflate quickly and be seen. I would not hestitate to recomd this - infact - I would urge other to get this over other SMBs.

Lovely and well made SMB

Lovely and well made SMB. Good value. A bit on the large side, so not the easiest to fully inflate before releasing for the surface from depth. Important to dry open and partially inflated as the red can transfer to the yellow. Definately recommended.

i have not used it yet as the sea is...

i have not used it yet as the sea is still too cold to dive without getting sick after. But at first inspection i believe it will do what it is advertised to do. It is bigger than i thought it would be and may have troubles finding a place for it on my rig, but should be fine.

A very well made

A very well made, easy to deploy dSMB. Doesn't fold up as small as some others but is made of long lasting material. Fits snugly in SMB pouch of Buddy BCD. No problem with spilling air due to self-sealing baffle.

I bought this dSMB for my boyfriend now that he's taken up diving, and I'm really impressed with it. It works far better than my non self-sealing dSMB - wish I'd given my boyfriend my old one, and kept this one!

Why buy anything else

Why buy anything else? A proven design that works far better than other SMB's I've tried. Admittedly it is a pain in the derrier getting the water out at the end but this is more than made up for by the ease of use when I need it - in the water! Make sure you get the right colour for your purpose. You will not be disappointed.

Much better than the open

Much better than the open-ended SMB I used beofre (now my backup!) Agree with others that it's a bit tiresome draining the water (or air) out as the purge valve toggle is quite stiff but a good piece of kit nevertheless

A good SMB

A good SMB. Does exactly what it says. Popper at the bottom seems to be located strangely but works. Make sure you get the right colour for your needs else you will get frowned upon. Yellow = emergency Orange = location. I don't think yellow/red is recognised.

Excellent SMB

Excellent SMB. I wanted a self-sealing style forsurface safety and convenience. This one is easier to inflate than my other sealed SMB (which cost much more) as you can use your octo via a wide opening to inflate it rather than disonnect your BCD hose etc. The self sealing valve is superb (much better than magnets/weights) and the dump valve avoids over inflation and aids deflating to pack away. My yellow/red one has bled colour too but this doesn't affect its function after all. So good I just bought another for the wife!

A nice bit of kit

A nice bit of kit- highly visible (I like the eyelet as it means I can attach a glow-toob to it so its useful on a night dive!) Well constructed easy to inflate- rolls up on itself and can be "popped" together for storage and will fit in my BCD pocket until needed.

Easy to deploy

Easy to deploy. But metal eyelet at top of SMB rusts leaving a nice brown stain down the SMB. Surely a plastic one would be better. AP Valves good effort but could try harder.

Functions as expected, not advisable to deploy mid-accent as can become very efficient lifting bag with you on the end. Unroll when drying to avoid red running onto yellow, do not leave rolled up wet.

 Although an expensive piece of kit, I believe it is important to have a good SMB. This one is brilliant - You can fill it as much as you want and the over fill valve will open during the ascent so it will never burst.
