This is the first dive computer I've owned (although I've borrowed others during guide dives) and I have to say I'm reasonably pleased with it. I've done about 10 dives with it, and so far it's been very straightforward to use (With air, just hop in the water and it does everything automatically) and it also looks pretty nice. The screen is legible, and the backlight works well, if you need it. The included USB cable is very handy for backing up all the dives to the Suunto DM5 software, which is nice for looking at profiles of the dives. I also have the transmitter, which means I can quickly glance at the watch and see remaining bar and NDL in one go. Something to be aware of is Suunto have the ascent rate set to 10m/min, rather than PADI's 18m/min. If you go over 10m/min then the watch gives you a compulsory 1 min stop at 5m, in addition to the 3 minute safety stop. My only complaint would be the volume of the beeps. The low risk double beep is very easy to miss, such as when you go over 10m/min for a moment, and you only notice this happened when you see you've been given a mandatory stop. Overall, I'm very pleased with the watch.

    With only one sentence

Posted by Murat Demirag - 20th July 2014
With only one sentence: Suunto D6i is for serious divers. You are able to use two Nitrox mixtures and switch during your dive. Tilt compass is another feature. Free dive and Deco modes help you join breath holding and deep dives (beyond NDLs) Pros: *You can also use this dive computer as a wrist watch in your social life *Wireless Air Integration *Readable LCD dcreen Cons: *You cannot replace its batteries on your own *If you use the Free Dive mode, you cannot use it in Dive Mode for 24 hours *Can seem to be costly for shallow water divers who make 5-20 dives per year

This dive computer would be great...

    Posted by Graham - 29th April 2014
This dive computer would be great if the battery lasted. I have had it nearly 3 years and had two battery replacements to date and now have low battery warning again. The unit has been checked by Suunto who claim its ok but at 30 dives a year give or take and £40 for a battery change not the best value.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY SUUNTO

    Posted by Ramon - 27th July 2013
READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY SUUNTO: I got my D6i on May 31 and was very excited at first: I did 5 dives during 3 weeks and I was initially amazed by the compass, USB connectivity etc, but then it failed: MODE button was dead. Just not working. Despite being new the seller (Dexclusive) DIDN'T offer me a replacement unit and I they told me \to send it back, then they sent it to Suunto for repair. And Still here I am, waiting for my "new" big bucks investment to be glued and repaired. Such an expensive dive compuer should NOT fail this way, so miserably, after just 3 weeks of normal usage, no it can not be this bad. No. What about a failure at 120 ft with mixed air? It could be catastrophic. YOU COULD DIE OR GET SEVERE INJURIES. Just 3 weeks of usage, 5 dives and my "brand new D6i" failed: UNACCEPTABLE quality. And no, the watch was never dropped, no bumps, no hits at all. It just stopped working. And Suunto doesn't care if it is brand new: No replacement whatsoever. At first the seller tried to blame me, then after many explanations they acknowledged the watch was faulty, but no: no replacement: "Send it back for repair" they insisted. I will never buy anything Suunto again. DON'T BUY SUUNTO UNLESS YOU LIVE IN FINLAND OR NEAR (very near) A REPAIR CENTRE. BEWARE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. PS: My "new" D6i is still at Suunto's repair centre and I am very frustrated.
