Info on the Lavacore Hood

The Lava Core Hood has been designed to protect against thermal loss in water as well as protecting against the wind. The Lava Core hood can be worn on its own but also under wetsuit or dry suit for extra warmth. This dive hood has a unisex fit and has a sun protection factor of 30 so you can spend longer in the water.

  • Quick drying outer layer
  • High stretch mid layer which is wind proof and breathable. Allows perspiration to be wicked away
  • Inner layer fleece has anti pill treatment
  • Anti microbial lining to reduce odour
  • Neutrally buoyant
  • Flatlocked seams overlapped for water integrity
  • Full gusset under arms to provide movement and stretch
  • Sun protection of SPF 30 plus

  • Mid layer: Impermeable, breathable microporous PU film
  • Inner layer: Fleece 240g/m2 4 way stretch fleece with elastane

We hope you will be completely satisfied with the Lavacore Hood purchased from Simply Scuba. However should you wish, you can return the Lavacore Hood for any reason within 28 days from the date of despatch for a full refund (less postage costs).

Items must be unused and in an as new condition with all packaging and labels/tags attached. The latest date for returns is printed on your delivery note for clarification.

Someone posted that this was a 'poor fit', but it's not supposed to be a tight fit like a traditional neoprene hood. I, personally, hate tight wet suit hoods and rarely wore one, but diving in cold water in the winter in the UK, you need something. I decided to get one of these and loved it. As someone else said, it doesn't feel cold when you put it on wet, it's easy to put on and take off, doesn't feel like your head is being crushed and yet still keeps my head warm enough in single digit water. I've never found mine slipping over my face or anything like that, so, in my experience, the less than claustrophobic feel has no downside. I bought mine about a year ago and it's been worn in water as warm as 12C and as cold as 5C, but I seem to have lost it on a recent trip to Vobster (8C!) so was back on Simply Scuba looking to replace it, which I will be doing so soon!

Love the product

Love the product. Used in single digit temps with no prob. Doesn't feel cold when putting it on wet :-)
