I have suffered with ear infections for a number of years in particular during dive holidays, often not being able to dive in the second week due to infection. I purchased a pro ear mask 18 months ago and have dived with it on 4 holidays and have not had a single infection since. I originally could not get a good seal so took the mask to hairdressers just before my last two hols and had hair shaved off around ears to allow good seal, since then I have had dry ears every single dive. This did not affect my hair style at all. I also use a silicone gell around the ear pieces which helps with the seal and got my buddies to check that any stray hairs were removed once the mask was in place, I also use the special double seal hood which is made specifically for this mask. Without the hood the mask does not work, at least not for diving, it may for snorkelling but I dont take any changes and also snorkel with it, but I do get some funny looks. Worth it though as the infections I was experienceing were getting more severe the last one so bad that it perforated the ear drum, which has subsequently repaired itself thankfully. Try this mask with the hood it really does work.

Excellent if you have ear problems,I never took up diving as I always got infections with in 3 days of going in water, saw these and quite literally took the plunge... Now passed my OW and going strong for my AOW,they have not leaked on me but they must be correctly fitted, you must take an extra few minutes compared to everyone else prior to diving getting them in place but well worth it, highly recommended, got the hood too, now that takes a bit of getting used to, but once again once it's on there's no looking back!!

It does exactly what it says it can do when fitted correctly, i noticed when i tried fitting and using for the first time ( just snorkelling ) that it seemed to leak, but, when i actually did my first discover scuba dive the girl that kitted me up said that they need checking and fitting by a buddy or trainer, to my amazement it worked perfectly. My ears are dry as a bone every time i dive and that peace of mind is worth the little extra hassle and price, you can also hear better or should i say your hearing doesnt get that muffled sound from the water, if your prone to infections or swimmers ear just go out and get one or borrow one and see for yourself. My instructor is on about getting one after seeing how well it works, only prob i can think of might be if you had long hair esp round your ears, i have no.1 back and sides every 6 weeks so the seal isnt a problem for me. Reason i got one is that as a child i had purforated eardrums ( now fully healed ) and have had a hole in my left ear drum twice ( one from polyp removal & one from blow to side of head playfighting ) both now repaired by myringoplasty ( skin graft repair ), trust me i wouldnt want to dive without this peice of kit after all ive been through, never thought diving would be an option for me but with this i feel safe and confident, and in hindsight i can say this is the first mask ive had that doesnt actually leak into the face area, all my old normal ones seemed to leak after a few weeks use, this is my third year since buying it and its like new, cant fault them, give the designer a medal.
