Info on the Atomic M1 Regulator
The Atomic M1 regulator is all about precision engineering and performance. Everything down to the material selection has been very carefully considered to provide a incredibly stable intermediate pressure and performance even at low cylinder pressures. A limited lifetime warranty and 2 year (or 300 dive) service period prove how well made this regulator is.
The first stage is made from monel and brass components. Monel is resistant to corrosion and acids making it an ideal metal for use in corrosive salt water. Compared to steel it is very difficult to machine but provides a much harder product in the end. The choice of materials also allows the regulator to be compatible with oxygen mixes of up to 80% straight out of the box.
The environmental seal protects the main spring from ice build up, allowing the first stage to provide a constant high air flow to the second stage without problems with freezing in cold conditions. Air is supplied via five low pressure ports on the swiveling turret and two high pressure ports on either side of the main body.
The M1 second stage continues with the same ethics of material choice and precision engineering to produce the ultimate regulator. Hidden and often missed features include thermal heat sinks to transfer cold away, super-dry exhaust valve, specially designed front cover to prevent strong currents activating the diaphragm, a seat saving orifice that only engages when air pressure is supplied to the second stage and an Automatic Flow Control (AFC) to control the venturi effect within the second stage.
Visible features include external inhalation control, a wide exhaust deflector to disperse bubbles around the side of the head and a dual silicone mouthpiece which also has tear resistant bite tabs for improved life.
