The Apeks XTX 40 Octopus is an incredibly reliable banalance second stage designed for use in all conditions with Apeks regulators gaining particular respect for the coldwater abilities.
 
The XTX 40 Octopus features a fully balanced valve with a reversible design feature, allowing a qualified technician to swap the handing of the second stage from right to left for alternative hose routing. The XTX 40 is built for the cold with a heat exchanger on the inlet and a full metal valve barrel to help disipate the cold into the surrounding water more efficiently.
 
A venturi switch on the side of the housing allows control over the flow of air inside the second stage, diverting air back towards the diaphragm to help reduce the risks of freeflowing or directing air to the mouthpiece for best performance and air flow.
 
The XTX 40 is fitted with a compact and streamlined exhaust cover to help prevent snagging and dragging of the second stage when stowed and not in use. The traditional rubber hose has bee replaced with a braided hose for additional UV protection, improved burst pressure, reduced weight and increased flexibility.
