Info on the Apeks XTX 40 DST Regulator
The Apeks XTX 40 DST is a fully balanced diaphragm regulator that has been designed to meet the tough cold water certified standard.
The Apeks DST first stage uses a dry sealed chamber to protect the internal components of the first stage against cold water and potential freezing in extreme conditions and also against contamination from chemicals or other substances that could otherwise damage soft parts such as o-rings or the diaphragm. The DST is fitted with a swivelling low pressure that houses four low pressure ports. Two high pressure ports can be found on the main body of the first stage.
The two stages are connected via a braided low pressure hose to reduce the overall weight of the regulator but also has the added bonus of increasing the burst pressure and UV resistance of the hose.
The XTX 40 second stage provides a great, value for money entry into the Apeks cold water rated regulator range. The XTX 40 is completely reversible allowing a technician to swap the handing from right to left when required. A venturi lever on the side of the housing provides the diver with control over the flow of air within the second stage, directing air towards the diaphragm to help reduce the risk of a free flow or directly to the mouthpiece for maximum air flow. An inlet heat sink and full metal valve barrel provide great cold dissipation into the surrounding ambient water whilst the front faceplate and diaphragm cover underneath help prevent strong currents or rapid movement in the water from causing the diaphragm to flutter the valve.
