The XTX 40 DS4 is composed of the XTX 40 second stage and DS4 first stage. The DS4 first stage regulator uses a dry sealed system and an over balanced diaphragm design where the intermediate pressure supplied to the second stage increases as the diver descends to greater depths which results in superior breathing performance regardless of depth.

The XTX40 octopus can be converted from a right handed hose configuration (as supplied from the APEKS factory in the standard) to a left handed one.
