Diver As a diver you will at some point go diving from a boat, be it a RIB, Hard Day Boat or luxury Live Aboard, be it in the UK or foreign seas.

The purpose of the PADI Boat Diver Speciality Course is to familiarize divers with the skills, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of diving from a boat.

Course Outline

  Theoretical discussion on the planning and organizing boat dives, common boat terminology, categories of dive boats, emergency equipment for boat diving, seasickness, pre-boarding procedures, boarding procedures, pre-dive procedures, dive procedures and post dive procedures. Such discussions may be held either in a classroom setting or actually during the open water segments to reinforce the practical applications.

This course consists of two open water boat dives, to depths no greater than the maximum depth limits as dictated by the certification level of the participants.

Course Timetable

  The precise time table for this course will vary dependent upon the specific logistics of the charter boat being used for the course. It can normally be completed in a single day, or as part of a longer dive trip, dependent upon dates available.

Course Pre-Requisites

  Participants must hold a minimum diver certification of PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver or an equivalent rating.

Minimum age is 10 years*.
A confined water training session may be required, at the discretion of the instructor conducting the course, to verify participants skills level.

  All personal standard diving equipment, such as Mask, Snorkel, Fins, Exposure Suit, BCD, Weights, Regulators and Instrument console, Cylinder and Air Fills.

PADI Certification fees.

Price Excludes

  Specific dive equipment, including Dive Computer, Knife, Slates, DSMB and Reel, which can be purchased from Simply Scuba as required.

Transportation from Simply Scuba dive centre to the selected dive site venue.

Any accommodation costs that may be incurred by participants.

What You Will Need To Bring

  Personal diving equipment and all specific diving equipment as detailed above. Please note that a Dive Computer is not essential to complete this course, but is recommended.

2 passport sized photographs.

Proof of your current level of certification and log book.

Other Important Information You Will Need To Know

  Like all training courses where certain levels of performance are required to pass it is important to realize that you must reach the required levels of proficiency for each aspect of the course in order for the instructor to certify you, (just like on a driving test).

*Participants under 16 years must be accompanied on the course by a parent or legal guardian.
