The XTX200 regulator can be converted from a right handed hose configuration (as supplied from the APEKS factory in the standard) to a left handed one.
This feature is known as the Reversible Venturi System (RVS). Changing the regulator to a left handed configuration is both quick and simple and can be performed by any APEKS Authorised Service Technician.
The XTX200 regulator incorporates the new feature of Diver Changeable Exhausts system (DCE). This system gives the diver the ability to change from a small exhaust tee to a large exhaust tee. This gives the user a choice of the wider exhaust tee for minimal bubble interference (essential for underwater photography) and the narrow exhaust tee for a smaller compact comfortable regulator (ideal for use as an octopus regulator).
The XTX200 regulator incorporates a new front cover manufactured using high strength plastic which greatly improves the durability of the most vulnerable part of the demand valve and an aesthetically pleasing chrome plated metal insert immediately identifying this regulator as a top of the range model.
The new purge button has improved the purge itself. Due to the new open design the purge is self clearing and prevents debris build-up.
The new ergonomic Venturi lever of the XTX200 has been designed to reduce the amount of grit ingress and also incorporate an index-able, tactile / audible ratchet Venturi lever mechanism.
The Status is an electronic unit which gives the diver the option to visually check the condition of the first stage regulator before a dive begins. High pressure air enters through the first stage connection filter as in a conventional Apeks first stage. This exerts enough pressure on the primary diaphragm to compress the large spring and allows the H.P. Valve Spring to close the H.P. Valve prevent further H.P. air flow. This maintains medium pressure air until the driver inhales. In the Status first stage, medium pressure is monitored and assessed by a micro-electronic computer and information is displayed on an LCD screen. An orifice in the Valve Lifter allows the pressure sensor to detect this medium pressure. Information is transmitted to the electronics by a newly developed load transmitter, which is protected under the cap in the dry sealed chamber. If the medium pressure falls outside the limits allowed, or usage time between servicing has been exceeded, the electronics displays this in an easy to read format.
Knowing that the medium pressure is within its ideal operating range gives the diver full confidence that the first stage is at its optimum before every dive and only a Status regulator displays this information. You will know by quick examination of the display that your medium pressure is ok. Another unique safety feature of the Status regulator is that is monitors the usage, in hours and calendar months, from when the regulator is first used or last serviced. The diver is informed that the first stage requires servicing by a flashing 'SVC' indicator on the LCD screen. This will occur when the regulator is initially pressurized.
