often you dive a site during the day, diving it at night brings out
a whole new dimension to what you see. Learn to prepare, plan and
execute night dives safely and open up this fascinating side to the
undersea world.
Observe creatures that you would not normally see
during the daylight hours, plus those that you think you know well
often behave completely differently during the twilight
hours.

COURSE OUTLINE
|
|
This
course is primarily practical in content, with the minimum of academic / theory instruction.
The focus being securely fixed on the practicalities of safe
diving at night! It consists of three open water
training dives, with a recommended depth of 6 meters for
each dive and a maximum depth of 20 meters allowed dependant upon
diver certification level and site logistics. The course
normally runs over two days, dependant upon dive site
location and logistics.
The pre-dive discussions will cover the following
topics -
- The appeal of night diving.
- Night diving equipment.
- Planning night dives.
- Reacting properly to special night diving situations.
- Night diving techniques.
Before,
during and after each of the Three Open Water Dives students will be
required to demonstrate practical application of all aspects of
planning and preparation, plus demonstrate correct diving protocols
and skills commensurate with holding a Night diver
certification.

Upon arrival at Simply Scuba you
will receive a safety briefing and orientation to the dive
centre. This will be followed by an introduction to
the course and an overview of what to expect and whats
expected of you.
This is followed by a discussion covering the
key points of night diving> and the checks
and responsibilities involved in this challenging aspect of
scuba diving.
Students will then prepare for the nights diving,
checking and preparing equipment, before leaving the dive centre for
the chosen dive site. At the end of the day there is a debriefing of
the days activities. Night dives are carried out between sunset and
sunrise.

*Participants under 16 years must be
accompanied on the course by a suitably qualified parent or legal
guardian.
Like
all training courses where certain levels of performance are
required to pass it is important to realize that you must reach the
required levels of proficiency for each aspect of the course in
order for the instructor to certify you, (just like on a driving
test). If you fail to achieve the required standards we will
endeavor to give you the opportunity for further training, however
this would incur additional cost.

WHAT's NEXT?

The PADI
Night Diver Specialty Course is part of the PADI Diver
Continuing Education Program, designed to encourage divers
to further their Knowledge and Skills under the safe supervision of
professional instructors. It combines well with other such courses
such as the PADI Peak Performance
Buoyancy Diver Specialty Course.
