Are you an Advanced Diver looking to explore some of the deeper wrecks around our history strewn coastline, but lack the knowledge and experience to dive deeper than 30 meters? Then perhaps the PADI Deep Diver Speciality Course is the answer!

The purpose of the PADI Deep Diver Speciality Course is to familiarize divers with the skills, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of diving between the depths of 18 meters and 40 meters. Participants will learn the correct use of Delayed Surface Marker Buoys, free water ascents and mandatory safety stops.

COURSE OUTLINE

Discussions on the planning and organizing of Deep Dives, Deep Diving Activities, Depth Limits, Specific Equipment Requirements, Deep Diving Techniques, Nitrogen Narcosis, Decompression Sickness, Travelling at Altitude after Diving, Recreational Dive Planner Review, Emergency Equipment Considerations, and post dive procedures. Such discussions may be held either in a classroom setting or actually during the open water segments to reinforce the practical applications.

This course consists of four open water dives. (No more than 3 dives to be completed in any one day).

 

COURSE TIMETABLE
 

The precise time table for this course will vary dependent upon the specific logistics of the dive site being used for the course. It can normally be completed in two days. The course will start and end at the Simply Scuba Dive Centre, with prior independent study from the manual mandatory.

Dive 1 must be conducted between 18 meters and a maximum of 30 meters.
Dive 2 must be conducted between 18 meters and a maximum of 24 meters.
Dive 3 must be conducted between 30 meters and a maximum of 40 meters.
Dive 4 must be conducted between 18 meters and a maximum of 30 meters.

At no time will divers be expected, encouraged or intentionally allowed to make dives that would require emergency decompression stops.

COURSE PRE-REQUISITES
 

Participants must hold a minimum diver certification of PADI Advanced Water Diver, or an equivalent rating.
Minimum age is 15 years*.


A confined water training session may be required, at the discretion of the instructor conducting the course, to verify participants skills level.

The Deep Diver Manual (Video available at additional cost).

Dive site entrance fees.

All personal standard diving equipment, such as Mask, Snorkel, Fins, Exposure Suit, BCD, Weights, Regulators and Instrument console, Cylinder and Air Fills.

PADI Certification fees.

PRICE EXCLUDES

Specific dive equipment, including Dive Computer, Knife, Torch, Slates, DSMB and Reel, which can be purchased from Simply Scuba as required.

Transportation from Simply Scuba dive centre to the selected dive site venue is your responsibility.

Any accommodation costs that may be incurred by participants.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING
 

Personal diving equipment and all specific diving equipment as detailed above. Please note that a Dive Computer is not essential to complete this course, but is highly recommended.

2 passport sized photographs.

Proof of your current level of certification and log book.

A valid medical statement of your fitness to dive.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW

*Participants under 16 years must be accompanied on the course by a suitably qualified parent or legal guardian.

Like all training courses where certain levels of performance are required to pass it is important to realize that you must reach the required levels of proficiency for each aspect of the course in order for the instructor to certify you, (just like on a driving test). If you fail to achieve the required standards we will endeavor to give you the opportunity for further training, however this would incur additional cost.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course is part of the PADI Diver Continuing Education Program, designed to encourage divers to further their Knowledge and Skills under the safe supervision of professional instructors. It combines well with other such courses such as the PADI Wreck Diver Specialty Course, Search and Recovery Specialty Course amongst others.
