TUSA Zoom Fins

Zoom Fins

Features: - Innovative hydrofoil design that produces forward motion (lift) with less effort. - New age elastic material with ridged reinforced double layered construction. - Propeller-fin technology and super lightweight design achieve the ultimate performance with less effort. - Angled design for maximum kick efficiency. Unlike traditional fins which create propulsion only through repulsive force, the SF-8 attains propulsion by creating a pressure differential in the water flow. To achieve maximum performance from this fin, use a small bent-knee kick with a light rhythm. This created less strain on the leg muscles compared with traditional fins, reducing the diver's fatigue and subsequent air consumption. 27 degrees Tech Reasons When using the standard, flat fin, with the leg completely extended, there remains an angle of 27 degrees between the heel of the foot and the calf of the leg, causing a 10% loss of propulsion. Because the fin is angled below the body, during the kick phase the body is pushed up and forward instead of straight ahead. With the SF-8 fin, that 27 degree angle has been designed into the fin so the fin is parallel to the leg. This means that 100% of the energy expended during the kicking phase is directed towards the propulsion of the diver. TUSA has developed the technology that has resulted in the creation of a robot that can replicate the motions of a human being. The robot is able to mimic the human underwater kick-bending at the ankle, knee and hip in one fluid motion. Using this robotic science, TUSA has been able to analyse the performance of the fins under several different conditions. The robot is able to swim through the water using kick variations, such as a large scissor kick with a slow repetition or a small flutter kick with a swift repetition and vice versa. Using high-tech instrumentation, this robot measures the energy expended during the kick and the propulsive force that is created using that energy. Available in pale pink

Review Look nice, and seem ok until you meet a strong current - now I know you don't swim against currents, but I went backwards and everyone else went forwards, with much less effort. You need a good flutter kick to get the best from these - indeed if you kick beyond your silhouette you are probably wasting energy. Good if you are little, but I'd avoid if you bigger or expect to tackle stronger currents - then again you don't always know before you jump in...

Review These are very good fins, well made, easy to put on and take off. I have never had a cramp while using them, very little effort required to move at a good speed which is what you want, less effort = better air consumption. I have dived with them in UK and South Africa and had no problems with them in stronger currents. So would I recommend them, definitely.

Review Great product. They do need a slightly different kick action but the difference is really noticeable. The difference in measuring a kick cyle will prove it's effectiveness. Much better for current work. Thanks TUSA.

Review last june I used these fins diving the brothers in the red sea with very strong currents and they made the dive a pleasure, while other divers were struggling.

Review Good fins, this type of fin requires a different kick technique to that of full blade fins. Once mastered the difference is very noticeable.
